Mª Pilar García Guijarro: Passion for Energy

María Pilar García Guijarro is a born leader. She is the head of the Commercial area and managing partner of the Watson Farley & Williams Madrid office, mother of three children, and leads a high percentage of the large operations that are carried out in our country around Renewable Energies; a trending market in which she has years of advantage thanks to the good advice that her father gave her.
"Mary", as she is called in her inner circle, states that taking everything forward with good grades is possible with organisation and effort, and she believes that equality is an issue that goes beyond gender, which lies in having the freedom to decide but without having to choose. In this issue, dedicated to the gender gap in the legal sector, García Guijarro gives us her most personal interview and shows, once again, that you can be a real top lawyer, in skirts or trousers.

Portugal is green

In Portugal, investing in energy means investing in renewable energy. It is almost inevitable, because in the last thirty years the legislation began to point towards a transition to clean energy. In addition, the awareness of the origin of the energy we consume has deeply penetrated Portuguese society. And the commitment to hydrogen as clean energy appears on the horizon. In order to confirm that “Portugal is green”, we talked with Manuel Andrade Neves, partner at Abreu Advogados and expert, among other areas, in Energy
Ferran Foix: "I have great confidence in the adaptive capacity and resilience of the human being"
On June 2, we knew that Joaquín Ruiz Echauri had been re-elected as a member of the Hogan Lovells Global Board, a firm whose turnover grew by 9% in 2019, reaching €46 million in Spain
Although it is still early to have specific reliable data about the real impact of the health crisis on family investments, it can be said that the effect of the pandemic on family portfolios will be significantly negative. We talked with Claudio Doria, founder of Doria Tölle & Asociados, to find out how the COVID-19 has affected this type of investment. Although the halt is undeniable, according to Doria, there is still "money looking for a destination"
Iván Delgado: "Representing Pérez- Llorca in New York and leading our LatAm desk from here is a responsibility, an honour and a privilege"
TMT law firm ECIJA has promoted and participated in the development of new technological tools to help better cope with certain aspects of the impact of the pandemic on our daily lives

Surfing the big wave

They are the link between the partners and the media, but also the ones who keep the team's flame alive in these days of confinement and smart working. Firms´ in-house Communication managers surf the heavy storm developing an important task as external and internal connectors of all the actors of Business law. We wanted to get closer to some of them, although there are many who are doing their best to make everything work during the COVID-19 crisis. One thing is clear: the true power of internal communication has been the great revelation of this pandemic

Family first

The forced confinement has meant that the coexistence of all the members of the family nucleus has been put to the test and, despite what we might think, according to Vestalia Asociados, in Spain, at least for the time being, we are passing the test. The situation has also generated many doubts about visiting rights regarding children of separated parents and custody matters. On the other hand, the high number of deaths due to the COVID-19 has led to the rescue of legal concepts as the "will in case of an outbreak". We asked Delia M. Rodriguez, who directs this Family Law Boutique with her partner and sister Adriana, about the impact of the coronavirus on Family Law
