Participants at this Breakfast Roundtable Debate will discuss the increasing challenges of organising and structuring a compliance function against the background of the latest research and court hearings.

Participants will share their experiences of the current challenges of managing compliance issues across jurisdictions.

We will hear the preliminary findings of Michele DeStefano Beardslee’s groundbreaking new research on the organizational structure of the compliance departments of the biggest US companies, and examine the impact of recent US court decisions.

The Bridgestone case is one of a number which are currently ringing alarm bells across the business world. This global tyre company - a Japanese and not US entity - was found guilty of violating American antitrust and FCPA rules, despite the fact that the majority of cartel meetings and bribes paid were in Latin America. Yet a former Bridgestone executive is now sitting in a US prison.
