Portuguese law firm Proença de Carvalho & Associados has confirmed its plans to join the Lisbon office of Uría Menéndez.

The new firm will operate in Portugal under the name Uría Menéndez - Proença de Carvalho.

Daniel Proença de Carvalho is recognised by many as one of the leading lawyers of his generation - most notably within disputes  - and he has also held senior government and business positions. Proença de Carvalho is also a note author having written several popular books about his activities as a lawyer in leading cases, both before and after the Portuguese revolution.He will become Chairman of Uría Menéndez - Proença de Carvalho, whilst Duarte Garin will continue as Managing Partner for Portugal.

Proença de Carvalho & Associados has eight lawyers in total and voer the years has gained a high reputation in all areas of litigation and arbitration, where the office has been involved in some of the most significant court cases held in Portugal. The firm is also noted for having significant experience within criminal law, such as tax fraud and other economic and finance related offences.
